A LETTER TO MY PAPAW FROM HEAVEN

Dear Papaw,

I know you are O.K., I can see you are much better.  I know you love me and that you miss me, but Papaw I am just great.  I wish I could show you around my home here in Heaven.  You would not believe how beautiful it is Papaw.  I really did not want to leave you Papaw and I know my Mommy is sad that I had to go.  I know the whole family is sad and that they miss me.  It is O.K. to miss me Papaw, but you don't need to be sad anymore.  Heaven is so beautiful Papaw and Jesus is so much fun.  Papaw you remember the pictures you used to show me of Jesus in them?  Jesus always looked like this man who was so sad looking, never smiling.  Well Papaw, that is not true.  Jesus laughs and plays with all the kids here.  We have great fun together and he tells us all the time, "Do not worry, your family will be coming along one day."  He has told of the pain he went through on Earth and how the people put nails in his hands.  How he died just for you Papaw and all the Mommy's and Daddy's and everyone on Earth.  All anyone has to do Papaw is ask Jesus to come into their hearts and Jesus will forgive you all your sins and one day you and Nanny, Mommy and Daddy can come to Heaven.  Papaw, as soon as Jesus welcomed me Home, Jesus gave me back my golden blonde curls.  I know Mommy and Nanny will be pleased to know that.  I have good news for you Papaw, you will get your hair back too.  Papaw I looked around and there was Popa Joe, your Dad, Papaw.  He was so pleased to see me.  He hugged me and asked about everyone and was Grannie Minnie O.K.?  I told him yes, everyone was O.K. and then I heard this voice, Papaw.  Someone was calling "William, William" and Papaw it was Grannie Blackburn, Nanny's Mom and her Dad was there too.  I had never met him before but his name is William too Papaw, and he is just like you.  He is so much fun, him and Popa Joe take me fishing in the River Jordan.  One day Papaw we were fishing and I met this man.  He was real nice, but what really got me, Papaw, his name was Joe just like your name.  He told me all about where he came from and how he used to make music and sing.  His wife is not with him, she is still there on Earth.  You might know her Papaw, her name is Geneva, but Joe calls her "Bugger".  If you know her Papaw will you tell her Joe is great and is looking forward to the day they are together once more.  And Papaw, tell Geneva how much Joe loves her.  Papaw, I have also made a lot of friends here in Heaven.  There is this little boy, his name is Sam.  Papaw me and him are best friends.  His Mommy is named Mary and he misses his Mommy just like I miss my Mommy.  Papaw, we have a lot of fun together too.  You know Papaw, Sam told me one day he did not know you could have so much fun and not get into trouble, but that is because we only do good.  There is no bad in Heaven Papaw.  One day Sam took me to meet a friend of his a boy named Jack.  He came here after being in a fire Papaw.  He also became a friend.  Me and Sam and Jack are just like that ole song you and me used to sing together.  We just like that lucky old sun.  We get to run around Heaven all day with nothing to do but play and sing songs with Jesus and Jesus, he can do more things than anyone I ever saw, Papaw.  He can make it rain in one spot, or snow or the sun shine all at one time.  He makes the birds sing and makes the grass grow sometimes so high we can not find each other and Jesus will run through the grass, Papaw, pretending he can not find us.  Oh Papaw, we have such fun playing with Jesus.  Papaw, don't you ever let anyone tell you Jesus is not a fun man.  Papaw, you remember how you and me loved trains?  Well, Papaw, I met a man in Heaven.  His name is Ben Smith and he runs the Heaven Bound Train for Jesus.  Popa Joe is his conductor and they let me and Sam and Jack ride the train all the time.  Joe rides with us sometimes.  I have many other friends here in Heaven.  There is this one kid his name is Christopher.  You know what we do together Papaw?  We build lego models together just like me and Uncle Roger used to do.  Papaw, he told me his family called him the "Lego Kid" on Earth.  I know one thing, he sure knows how to put them together fast.  Papaw, I have so many friends here.  There is Steven, we call Steve and his brother William, but he wants us to call him Trey.  Now Papaw I want to tell you something real special.  There is a little boy here he is about my age.  We call him Bubba, but guess what Papaw?  Bubba is Trey and Steve's Uncle on Earth.  But here Papaw they are one.  There is this little girl, her name is Amber.  She told me how she had met my Mommy at the lab when she went there and she told me she loved my Mommy too.  Amber also has her Dad with her and he is very funny Papaw.  they are looking forward to the day Amber's Mommy comes home.  You know Jesus lets you do here what you loved when you were on Earth, so you know what Grannie does?  She helps take care of Heaven's nursery.  Sometimes she will let me help her.  You know how I like to hold babies.  Sometimes I hold Brice and Sean and once in awhile a get to hold Jeremy.  But I know something you don't know, Papaw.  Babies don't cry in Heaven and they are so special to Jesus.  I wish you and their Mommies could see the love and joy in the face of Jesus when he is holding Sean, Jeremy, Brice and Grannie Blackburn is so happy Papaw, you would think she was in Heaven tending to all the babies in Heaven.  There are so many here, but I am glad of one thing, Papaw, that they don't cry here.  Aunt Kayla helps Grannie all the time Papaw.  There is this little boy his name is Andrew.  He follows Kayla around all the time.  I think he has a crush on her.  Did I tell you about Gunter, Papaw?  He is a special little friend of mine.

Well, Papaw, I hope you understand a little bit better about Heaven and how you and Mommy and all the other Mommy's and Daddy's and sisters and brothers and last but not least, Papaw's and Nanny's too.  Just think of the happiest thing that ever happened to you on Earth, Papaw, that is not even close to how happy we are here in Heaven.  Tell all the Mommy's their kids love them and not to be sad anymore.  Well, Papaw, Ben and Popa Joe are telling us to get aboard the Heaven Bound Ben Special.  They are going to give us a ride to celebrate my birthday on Earth, but we don't have birthdays here Papaw, we never grow old.  When you and Nanny, my Mommy and Daddy see me again I will still be six years old Papaw.  Now be sure to tell my Mommy and all the Mommy's on Earth, we love you all.  All the way to Heaven and back again.

Your Grandson,
Mr. William

P.S.  Papaw I am working hard on how to come and pick you up so one day Papaw, I will tap you on the arm and you will hear my voice, "Papaw, it is time to come to my house."
